Vadayaparambu Pally

Mar Behanans Church, Vadayaparambu is popularly known as Vadayaparambu Pally. It belongs to the order of very ancient church, Malankara Orthodox church. Vadayaparambu is a rural place in the district of Ernakulam in Keralam, India.

The original parish members of this church belonged to Piravom valiyaa paally till mid nineteenth century. As the Piravom church was on the other side of the Muvattupuzha river; the people residing in the Pazhoor, Thirumarayoor and Veliyandu region felt the need for a church in their side of the river as well so that even during monsoon they could attend the Sunday mass without fail. This thought lead to the establishment of the present church at Vadayapparambu desam.

At present, the church has around 250 families and is under Kochi dioceses. The present church Vicar is Rev.Thomas Ponnamkuzhi. Two of the parish members, late Fr.Thomas Thekkan and Fr. A.M Peter, Nettady Ambattil, also served the church as Vicars for long duration.
